Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes

National Theatre

America in the mid-1980s. In the midst of the AIDS crisis and a conservative Reagan administration, New Yorkers grapple with life and death, love and sex, heaven and hell.

I created a two-pronged approach to the campaign based around place and identity. I commissioned Ryan Hopkinson to shoot a scene-setting image for the play, based on the idea of 'plastic neon angels' and Jason Bell shot the cast of characters as if they inhabited that same world.
